In the early 1800s The Tontine was used as a resting place for travellers and mail coaches on the Sunderland to London route. This room enjoys a double aspect with views across to nearby woodland and our pretty coach house.
The fabulous wallpaper, designed by award winning local designer Deborah Bowness, sets the tone for a contemplative room. A staircase leads up to a beautiful bathroom in the eaves, with a double shower and free standing bath where you can enjoy views of the Cleveland Hills across to the North Yorkshire Moors.
If the booking is cancelled less than 24 hours prior to arrival then a charge equal to the first night of the stay will be made. In the event of a no show or booking reduction (after arrival date) the full cost of the booking is charged.
Whether you want a room for the evening, a bite to eat, or to share The Cleveland Tontine experience with someone special, we have got something for you.
